Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data inFeeder collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've kept it short and in plain English.
The short version. inFeeder is a mobile RSS reader. We collect the bare minimum needed to make the app work: an account identifier, the writers and stacks you follow, the articles you bookmark or like, and basic device data for push notifications. We don't sell your data and we don't run ads.
1. Who we are
inFeeder is an independent mobile app published on the App Store and Google Play. It is operated by an individual developer ("we", "us", "the developer"). You can reach us at support@infeeder.org.
2. What we collect
2.1 Account information
When you create an account we store an account identifier (such as an email address or a third-party sign-in identifier) and a randomly generated user ID. You can browse the app without signing in; signing in is only required when you want to follow writers, sites or stacks, or bookmark items.
2.2 Preferences and activity in the app
- The languages, databases and other tags you follow.
- The websites and writers you follow.
- Articles, GitHub repos and Stack Overflow questions you bookmark or like.
- Notification preferences.
- Website-request submissions you send us.
We use this data to assemble your home feed, to power the search and notification features, and to show you the app's "why this article is here" reasoning.
2.3 Device and diagnostic data
To deliver push notifications and keep the app stable, we receive a device push token from Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging, plus standard crash and diagnostic logs generated by the operating system and our error-reporting tools. We do not collect your contacts, photos, location or microphone data.
2.4 What we do not collect
- We do not collect contacts, photos, location, or microphone data.
- We do not run advertising trackers.
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
3. Content from third-party websites
inFeeder indexes publicly available RSS feeds from 400+ developer websites, GitHub trending repositories, and Stack Overflow's public hot-questions feed. Articles, repos and questions shown in the app are summaries that link out to the original publisher. All copyrights remain with their respective authors and publishers. If you publish a website that you'd like removed from the index, email support@infeeder.org.
4. How we use your data
- To build and update your personalized feed.
- To send notifications when writers or sites you follow publish new articles.
- To remember your bookmarks and likes across devices.
- To investigate and fix bugs and crashes.
- To respond to your support requests.
5. Service providers we rely on
To run the app we use a small number of third-party services:
- Apple App Store / Google Play — distribution and in-app billing where applicable.
- Apple Push Notification service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications.
- A cloud hosting provider for our API and the indexing bot.
- An error reporting service for crash reports and diagnostics.
These providers process data only on our behalf and under their own privacy terms.
6. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account-linked data (follows, bookmarks, likes, preferences) within 30 days. Anonymous diagnostic logs may be retained for up to 90 days.
7. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Edit or remove the writers, sites and stacks you follow at any time from the app.
- Turn off notifications in the app's settings or your device settings.
- Delete your account from the app's settings, or by emailing us.
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you, or request its deletion, by emailing support@infeeder.org.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, the CCPA or similar laws. We honor those requests on a global basis.
8. Children
inFeeder is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic, hashed authentication credentials, and access controls on our servers. No system is 100% secure; if we ever discover a breach affecting you we will notify you promptly and take steps to limit the impact.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use of inFeeder after a change means you accept the updated policy.
